The very first trip ever 2001

I didn't know anything about deep sea fishing in 2001. The previous year I had help get a trip together for 2 retiring coaches and 1 retiring administrator and that is all the experience I had. In 2000, we just wanted to get a trip together 2 go fishing for anything but mainly to just socialize with each other. In 2001, Brad and I wanted to get our dad and our father in laws together and go fishing. Joey F and Jeff M were on that first trip. Shag and Ted were our deck mates and Capt Ron was our captain. He was a hard tail but we really enjoyed the trip. We went on a king mackeral trip which all in all probably lasted around 4hrs on the water. It took about 2 days to fish 4 hours since our Saturday trip was cancelled and we all stayed and fished on Sunday. The weather was awful but we did catch our limit. We also saw 2 water spouts on this trip. This was an awesome first trip and I will always remember the pot that I won as well. We all put about $10 each into a pot and whoever caught the biggest fish would get the money plus Capt Ron would give them a boat hat. I won because I caught a dusty shark around 140lbs. About $50 in cash and I have the hat on my deck at home this day. What a trip though. This trip has enabled me and Brad as well as Jeff and Joey to enjoy many other great trips over the years. Our dad has gone on one other trip, and Brad's father in law has gone on one more as well.
